Saudi flight with only-female crew for first time
Flyadeal Airlines stated that it has completed the country’s first flight with a female-only crew, marking the first of its type in Saudi Arabia.
According to the French newspaper “Le Figaro,” a spokesman for the low-cost airline “Adele,” Imad Iskandarani, the flight on Thursday linked the capital, Riyadh, to the western coastal city of Jeddah, and that all members of the crew, a total of seven people, were Saudis, except the pilot, who was not identified.
The Saudi Civil Aviation Authority, which is linked with Saudi National Airlines and confirmed the story, expressed its delight at the support for women’s participation in this profession.
The Saudi Arabian General Authority of Civil Aviation, which confirmed the “Flyadeal” company’s announcement on Saturday, commended the recent expansion of women’s roles in the aviation sector.
In 2019, the authority announced the first flight of a Saudi assistant to the pilot among its crew.
Saudi Arabia’s aviation plans, which are part of the “Vision 2030 reforms,” involve a more than threefold rise in annual passenger volume to 300 million passengers by the end of the decade.
By 2030, the kingdom hopes to attract $100 billion in investments, launch a new national airline, construct a “mega airport” in Riyadh, and expand freight by five million tons per year.
