UAE condemns Israeli invasion of Al-Aqsa mosque
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday strongly condemned the invasion of the Al-Aqsa mosque by extremist settlers guarded by Israeli forces.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said in a press release reiterated its strong position that the Al-Aqsa Mosque should be fully protected and that grave and provocative violations should be halted.
It asserted the role of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to protect the holy places and endowments should be respected under international law and the historical status quo.
The Ministry called on the Israeli authorities to de-escalate and end tension and stressed the significance of exercising maximum restraint to avoid drifting to new levels of instability.
The Ministry also called the importance of supporting all regional and international efforts to advance the Middle East peace process, as well as putting an end to illegal practices threatening the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
