Iran moves Greek oil tanker seized on Qeshm island

Delta Poseidon, one of two Greek oil tankers seized by Iran, has been relocated to the northeastern coast of Qeshm Island, marine monitoring service TankerTrackers.com said Saturday.

The tanker has been relocated from its previous location on Larak Island, which has been one of Iran’s main oil export points since 1987.

“The two tankers are now only separated by a nautical mile,” the online service, which tracks the shipment and storage of crude oil, told Twitter on Twitter.

The second Greek oil tanker, Prudent Warrior, is said to be anchored off Bandar Abbas on the southern coast of Iran.

“We expect them to stay here for the duration of their IRGC captivity,” said TankerTrackers.com.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guards seized both tankers on May 27 while they were in the waters of the Persian Gulf in retaliation for the American seizure of Iranian oil that was loaded onto the ship and held off the Greek coast.

Greek authorities had seized the Iranian-flagged Pegas near the coast of the southern island of Evia before the United States, which imposed severe sanctions on Iran, confiscated the oil cargo.
