WHO warns of cholera outbreak in Ukraine’s Mariupol
The World Health Organization on Wednesday warned of the cholera threat
outbreaks in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol.
Margaret Harris, a spokeswoman for the World Health Organization (WHO), said in a press release that the threat of cholera outbreaks in Mariupol was high after people got less safe drinking water due to damaged tubes.
She noted that Mariupol and neighboring territories have long been known to have a history of cholera outbreaks, but she emphasized that “there have been no confirmed reports of cholera outbreaks.”
WHO crews were not on the ground in Mariupol, but they would work with partners to provide support.
