Will Zuckerberg leave his Meta position??
Mark Zuckerberg’s stay as chairman of Meta for “very long years” was normal, as the company’s international affairs officer and former British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said.
Changes in Facebook administration finally made headlines after Cheryl Sandberg, Meta’s second-most influential executive announced her concession after working alongside Zuckerberg for 14 years.
While the heads of other tech giants such as Amazon, Twitter, and Google abandoned their duties, Zuckerberg made no mention of his desire to step down, despite the considerable debate over Facebook’s exploitation of its users’ private data as well as widespread misinformation.
At the end of 2021, Zuckerberg renamed his parent company “Dead,” referring to the shift to “MetaVers,” a set of parallel worlds that are mainly accessed through augmented and virtual reality platforms and described by Zuckerberg as the future of the Internet.
Clegg considered that there was no reason for the 38-year-old Zuckerberg to leave the company as long as the project did not materialize.
He told AFP on the sidelines of the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles “it makes sense that Mark wants to continue with his duties in + meta + to take over the writing of the new chapter in society, which will need very long years.”
Zuckerberg “is the founder of Meta +, but he is also the architect of the new chapter and augmented and virtual reality techniques.”
In 2014, Facebook acquired Oculus, a VR helmet manufacturer. The technology attracted a large number of fans of video games, including Fortnight and Roblex, but Klegg also saw it as a great opportunity to record achievements in education and medicine.
Meta’s platforms use about 3.6 billion people per month, and the company is currently valued at more than $500 billion.
