Leaders of churches in Jerusalem criticized Israeli settlers for raiding the Little Petra Hotel, a place of rest of Christian pilgrims for years, in the Old City of Jerusalem.
A commission of Leaders of churches in Jerusalem, foreign ambassadors, and Islamic and Christian figures, confirmed during a visit to the hotel their support for the hotel’s leadership and workers, slamming the settlers’ invasion of the hotel under the defense of the occupation forces.
Last Saturday night, people with Ateret Cohanim stormed the Little Petra Hotel as well as into a local money-changing shop owned by the Patriarchate and rented by a Palestinian Jerusalemite at the hotel’s entry.
Secretary-General of the Islamic-Christian Committee to protect Jerusalem and holy sites, Hatem Abdel-Qader, reported that this meeting is an action of solidarity with the Petra and Imperial hotels which refer to the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in Jerusalem, emphasizing the significance of two places that act as gateways to the Old City of Jerusalem and Christian holy places.
