Dahlan marks 15 years of internal Palestinian division
The leader of the Democratic Reformists within the Fatah Movement Mohamed Dahlan on Tuesday tweeted on his Facebook account marking 15 years of the internal Palestinian division.
He said that marking the fifteenth anniversary of the internal division “is not to bring up wounds and invoke pain.”
“Despite the bitterness and ugliness of the experience, we inspire and draw lessons, and stand before the repercussions of the experience and its political, social, and economic consequences, which are catastrophic by all measures on the people and the Palestinian cause,” Dahlan said.
He added that “The current stage bears many internal and external threats that threaten the Palestinians as a cause and a nation, and requires national unity to devise a consensual strategy to confront these challenges, starting with the unity of the Fatah movement and rebuilding it on democratic foundations, as the pillar of the national project.”
Dahlan concluded that “If the movement founders’ leaders were among us, they would not be ignoring the division and its consequences on the people and the cause,” adding that to satisfy their thought and spirit, “we do everything possible to end the division, unite the homeland, and continue the national project until its completion.”
