IOF detains 450 Palestinian kids since the start of 2022
Since the start of this year, the Israeli occupation forces have detained 450 Palestinian children, most of them from the occupied city of Jerusalem, the Commission for Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs said.
The commission reported that Jerusalem documented 78.4% of the total Palestinian kids who have been detained this year, which is 353 children.
It emphasized that the occupation authorities are still holding approximately 170 kids in their jails and arrest centers.
Besides, it asserted that the Israeli occupation does not take into account their young age, the innocence of their childhood, or their weak physical structure. The occupation does not give them the minimum of their basic and humanitarian needs, contrary to what is stipulated in international human rights conventions, specifically the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The commission noted that the occupation forces deliberately imprisonment kids from their homes at night, and sometimes while they are playing in the streets, or on their way to school, detain them in bad circumstances and deprive them of their most essential rights.
