COVID-19 hits Palestine again
Alkaila warns of sixth COVID-19 wave in Palestine as 1000 new cases were confirmed in one day
An increase in COVID19 cases in Palestine encouraged Health Minister Mai Alkaila to warn of the start of a sixth wave of COVID-19 as 1000 new cases were confirmed on Sunday in the West Bank.
Alkaila said in a press release that the situation is worrying and serious following the verification of 1000 new cases in one day and in the West Bank alone, calling for people to take the booster vaccines and to take precautions such as wearing masks in indoor areas.
COVID cases dropped in Palestine in the last weeks to reach only the tens while none were hospitalized.
Data issued yesterday by the Ministry of Health revealed 938 new cases of COVID19 in one week with 17 people being hospitalized and three in intensive care.
Neighboring Israel, where tens of thousands of Palestinians go to work or do business, has also been registering a serious surge of new daily patients put at about 10,000.
