Israeli forces detained on Monday 13 Palestinians and injured 20 others in the occupied city of Jerusalem last night according to local sources.
It claimed that Israeli forces attacked Palestinian youngsters who congregated at Damascus Gate, one of the main gates leading into Jerusalem’s Old City, following the late-night prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque, as is customary on Ramadan nights.
Sources said that the clashes began after the Israeli occupation increased its presence in the area and erected barriers on both sides of the Damascus Gate plaza on the first day of Ramadan.

At least 19 Palestinians were injured, according to the Palestine Red Crescent Society.
Four of the victims were sent to hospitals, while the rest were treated on the spot.
The latest tensions resemble those that erupted in May and Ramadan 2021 when Israeli settlers took seized Palestinian property in Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and Israeli extremists advanced on the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
