Israel’s plan to deprive the Palestinians of their water resources
The Israeli occupation forces’ assualt on the water spring of Duma hamelt, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, and the demolition of the pipes connected to it is another violation committed by Israel against the Palestinians and intended to deprive them of their water sources, the head of the Water Authority, Mazen Ghoneim said.
He said in a press statement that the spring is one of the water resources that are considered a main source of water in that area, which is suffering from a shortage in water and relies on the spring to save water for the people of the village.
Ghoneim added that the Water Authority had rehabilitated the spring due to its importance for the citizens in this area who are constantly attacked and harassed by settlers in order to force them to evict their lands.
He asserted that the ongoing Israeli violations against Palestinian water resources and projects are only further evidence of the Israeli attacks of international laws and an Israeli policy that aims to deprive the Palestinians of their water resources and to prevent them from developing water projects to give people with water in a safe manner.
The Israeli occupation forces stormed the Duma spring on Tuesday, accompanied by a bulldozer, and demolished the water pipes and the surrounding fence, and destroyed the current restoration work.
