EU concerns about Israeli plans to create new outposts in West Bank
The European Union concerned about news that Israeli settlers intend to build many new outposts in the occupied West Bank, as well as the 150 illegal outposts that exist today in the occupied Palestinian territories.
“Outposts often serve to establish or further expand Israeli settlements and are a potential direct source of increased settler violence against Palestinians,” reported the EU in a tweet. “Settlements and outposts are illegal under international law and constitute a major obstacle to the achievement of the two-state solution.”
Israeli news stated the settlers intend to create today 10 new outposts in different places of the occupied West Bank.
While the Israeli government said it considers outposts illegal, it eventually legalizes them and turns them into full-fledged settlements.
