Israel expels Palestinians from their homes in Jerusalem
The Israeli occupation authorities on Thursday called on a number of Palestinians to evict their homes in the Bedouin community of Abu Nuwar, east of Jerusalem, local sources said.
Local activist, Daoud Jahalin, reported that Israeli forces barged their way into the community, and handed several citizens of community notifications ordering them to exit their homes within two weeks or else have their dwellings decreased to rubble.
The citizens of the nearby town of Anata own the land on which the community is designated and have title acts attesting to their ownership.
Jahalin said that the destruction was intended to forcefully expel the community and hold their land for colonial settlement construction.
Located in the so-called “Area C” of the West Bank, the community has a population of some 180 people. It has been contained by the Israeli authorities from undertaking any building, including roads that would allow a school bus to access the community and safely bring the children to and from school.
