Hamas praises the Libyan national team’s rejection of opposing Israeli team
Hamas Sports Department praised the Libyan national fencing team for declining to play against the Israeli team and for removing from the World Fencing Championship in Dubai.
The department said in a press release on Tuesday, its gratitude for the Libyan support for Palestinians by restricting to facing the Israeli team, particularly that they got a World Cup final, demonstrating that Libya and Palestine have always held a strong relationship.
“Facing Israeli players is considered a breach of the agreed-upon Palestinian and Arab boycott standards and also a contribution to whitewashing the crimes of the Israeli occupation,” the department reported.
Several Arab athletes have rejected to play against Israeli players in a bid to reveal the true image of the occupation and attract attention to the Palestinian people’s torture, which is an adequate means to fight normalization.
