IOF to build 1,446 new settlement units in Jerusalem
Israeli occupation endorsed on Tuesday a settlement plan at the expense of the Palestinian lands of the town Sur Baher, south of occupied East Jerusalem, in favor of the “Lower Canal” illegal settlement between the settlements of “Har Homa” and “Givat Hamatos”.
The program, according to what was announced by the Israeli “Peace Now” movement, calls for building 1,446 new settlement units in the “Lower Canal” settlement.
An investigator in the “Peace Now” movement, Givat Ofran, said in a tweet on her “Twitter” that the so-called (governmental) Regional Planning and Building Committee met yesterday, Monday, and it was agreed that the plan for settlement units in the Lower Canal (settlement) be offered for complaint.
Ofran said that the committee delayed (indefinitely) its decision about a second settlement plan, which includes building 473 settlement units in the “Givat Hashaked” settlement on the lands of the town of Beit Safafa, south of the city.
“Peace Now,” declared that more than 230,000 settlers live in settlements in occupied East Jerusalem.
