IOF closes Gaza’s Erez crossing to Palestinians
Israeli occupation on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, closed the Beit Hanoun “Erez” crossing for the movement of people, which is the only crossing in the Gaza Strip to occupied the West Bank.
Head of the committee for coordinating the entry of goods into the Gaza Strip, Raed Fattouh, reported that the Kerem Shalom “Erez” crossing was suddenly closed by Israel.
Besides, the occupation forces deprived the families of inmates in the Gaza Strip of the weekly visit to their sons in prisons, which is allowed every Tuesday via the Beit Hanoun “Erez” checkpoint.
On Tuesday morning, the occupation forces declared the closure of the “Erez” checkpoint, as part of security measures it took in the settlements surrounding the Gaza Strip, on the pretext that there was intelligence information about the will of the Islamic Jihad movement to escalate after the detention of its leader in the West Bank, Bassam al-Saadi.
