Ferrari intends to launch its first electric car
Ferrari will launch its first electric car in 2025.
The Wall Street Journal said, “This challenge is an existential challenge for Ferrari, steeped in tradition and made a name for itself from powerful and loud internal combustion engines.”
The company’s transformation, its new CEO, is coming from semiconductor industry scientist Benedteo Vigna, and Vigna told the newspaper that the company’s first fully electric vehicle will be rolled out in 2025.
Adding that electronic chips will play a pivotal role in the “car of the future”, as the new car has “limited” autonomous driving features but will not be fully self-driving.
Vigna also said that the new car “will not be silent.”
“We will look at three dimensions, design, performance, and passion, we will always have a unique design. On the performance side, we look at the aerodynamics and engine efficiency, on the emotional side, we look at the sound and the way the driver feels accelerated. ”
“There are ways we can extract unique sound from the electric motor without using electronics, we are working on it and patenting it,” he said.
Vigna also said that the company will remain interested in racing Formula One car, adding, “Racing is part of the DNA of this company, it has always been and always will be, it reminds the people who work here of the importance of timing and attention to detail and that everything must work together perfectly.”
However, he rejected that there was a link between winning the race and sales, although he admitted that “winning the race enhances the morale of the workers.”
