Russia develops new technologies for 6G networks
Russia Today reported that sources familiar with the development of modern electronics in Russia that experts in the country are working on a project to develop new technologies for 6G networks.
The Director of the Russian Radio Research Institute, Oleg Ivanov, said, “Russia works on a project to develop new technologies for 6G networks, our experts will collaborate with experts from the Skoltik Institute of the Skolkovo Innovation Centre, with a view to developing regulatory frameworks for new networks, regulating the security of their work, and developing new technologies for their operation.”
Russian newspaper Izvestia said that the new technologies that Russian experts are working on are supposed to be ready by 2025, and the total cost of the project could be up to 30 billion roubles.”
On the other hand, Mobile Research Group analyst and technical expert Eldar Murtazin said, “The development of 6G cellular networks in Russia is linked to the development of 5G networks, the process comes in a hierarchical manner, and it is impossible to develop equipment for 6G networks without developing equipment for 5G first.”
“It is very necessary to develop 6G networks in Russia, regardless of whether the equipment of these networks is locally developed in China or in European countries.”
The technical expert and head of Russia’s “NTI” telecommunications and IoT center, Dmitry Lakontsev, had earlier pointed out that “6G networks are supposed to emerge in Russia between 2033-2034, three or four years after the launch of their trade tests”.
According to projections, the speed of data transmission in 6G networks is supposed to reach 1TB/THA, almost 50 times faster than it is now in modern 5G networks, which are still in the early stages of their deployment around the world.
