Fourth man in the world to “recover” from “AIDS”

The world’s fourth 66-year-old has cured HIV by operating a stem cell transplant method that has been treated by someone with rare genetic changes that are resistant to the virus.

This man has been in a quiet state for 17 months and is the oldest patient to recover using this experimental method.

Doctors reportedly analyzed this man with AIDS in 1988, a few years ago analyzed him with leukemia, and in 2019 doctors decided to treat him with blood-forming stem cells (which preceded the emergence of blood cells) taken from a volunteer with rare genetic variants.

It should be mentioned that the first patient to be cured using this method was a man dubbed the “Berlin Patient.” Two other patients were subsequently declared cured using this method of treatment.

The man is currently experiencing medical follow-up and has not taken HIV-suppressing medication for 17 months. So far, the virus has not been seen in his blood, adding that this man has had immunity for more than 30 years, his recovery is indeed a historic event.

Researchers reported that this method of treatment is not suitable for patients with HIV only. Because this method is toxic and dangerous to the patient’s life, not to mention the difficulty of finding the right volunteer and performing all the necessary procedures, in addition to this work is very expensive.

However, this method gives older people with HIV and leukemia a new hope for life.
