US army shifts basis of the attack on Syria base
The US army said explosions prematurely this month on the ground in eastern Syria that wounded several US service partners were not, as it originally reported, caused by artillery or another form of indirect fire.
Besides, it is now considered the April 7 episode was carried out by the “deliberate placement of explosive charges” by one or more people at a shell holding area and shower building on the base, according to a statement issued Thursday by the Operation Inherent Resolve command that oversees US army operations against the ISIS group in Syria and Iraq.
The statement reported that the accident is under examination but supplied no other data.
The connection to the “deliberate placement” of explosive directions on the base seemed to raise the possibility of infiltration and regression of base defense.
In its original report on April 7, the order said the base, understood as Green Village, received two rounds of avoiding fire that struck two support buildings. Four service members were being evaluated for little wounds and possible traumatic brain wounds.
The US has many hundred forces in eastern Syria as a region of its effort to counter the ISIS group.
