Belgian march against investment in Israeli settlements
The Belgian Palestinian Friendship Association, in coordination with the Palestinian society in Belgium and other Belgian institutions helping Palestine explained in front of the office of the insurance company “AXA” in the capital, Brussels.
This came in a march against the involvement of AXA in funding Israeli occupation settlements constructed on Palestinian land, and to move it to appreciate its climate and human rights commitments.
“Despite repeated calls from civil society organizations, AXA continues to refuse to divest from settlements, making them complicit in the war crimes and destruction carried out by Israel’s apartheid regime,” the organizers reported.
They said, “As long as AXA is proud of being one of the leading financial institutions in the fight against climate change, it must stop securing the destruction of the environment in Palestine.”
It should be mentioned that the Belgian bank and insurance company AXA ranks 30th among the 100 biggest European investors concerned in illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, with a total asset of $845 million.
