Gaza .Aug.22 The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) urgently needs $75 million to continue providing food assistance to one million Palestinians in Gaza until the end of the year, said the United Nations Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland.
On Monday, he spoke before the UN Security Council about the demolitions carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities of Palestinian properties and facilities, and discussed the amount of material shortage that prevents the United Nations agencies from carrying out their work towards the Palestinians
Wennesland added that the WFP needs $41 million to restore its operations
in the occupied Palestinian territory, and that they have received only 30 percent of the total required for the current year
All Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories were illegal under international law and were a major obstacle to peace
He pointed out that the occupation authorities seized and forced their owners to demolish 58 houses
Palestinians in Area C of the West Bank, and 6 in East Jerusalem, displacing 28 Palestinians, including 14 children
Wennesland said a Palestinian elementary school in the Ein Samia area of Ramallah and al-Bireh governorate was demolished just days before the start of the school year
He called on the occupation authorities to stop the demolition of Palestinian property and the displacement of Palestinians, and to approve additional plans that would enable Palestinians to build legally and address their development needs
