Strauss causes salmonella in Israel
One of Israel’s largest food factories said it would recompense consumers with double what they paid on products supposed of holding salmonella, as the company and government officials scrambled to answer queries increased by the massive recall of Strauss products, and stores pulled chocolate, ice cream, cookies, and other products off shelves.
Strauss Group said Monday that multiple popular chocolate products created by its aid company Elite were being identified due to problems of salmonella contamination.
The Health Ministry reported that it was announced by Strauss that lab tests on some of its consumer-ready products had indeed tested optimistic for salmonella. More than three people have been hospitalized with suspected salmonella poisoning from Strauss products.
Stores across Israel have emptied the shelves of dozens of goods on a Health Ministry list, which contains goods that make up the lion’s share of many snack categories. The recall is believed to be the biggest in the country’s history.
Some clients are avoiding purchasing all Strauss products even those without chocolate over fears of contamination, Channel 12 News said.
