A Palestinian businessman announced a major solar power project to provide electricity to a main Gaza road.
Bashar Al-Masri, Chairman of PADICO Holding Company, said the project will secure round-the-clock power for the 45-kilometer-long Salah Al-Din road, which runs from north to south the Gaza Strip.
This initiative, costing $60 million, will generate up to 50 megawatts of electricity using solar energy sources.
Al-Masri said that the “Energy of Hope” project will greatly benefit the people of Gaza by improving the environment and the quality of life, while enhancing the availability of electricity.
Notably, over 50 business owners and representatives from the private sector in the West Bank, led by Bashar Masri, visited Gaza as part of an initiative. Their visit included a tour of Gaza industrial zone, meetings with private sector representatives, talks with young entrepreneurs, and visits to key facilities in the Strip.
Gaza has suffered from severe power crisis, with limited supplies providing households for eight to 12 hours of electricity a day.
