Russia tries to persuade Turkey to cancel operation in Syria
Russia tried to persuade Turkey to cancel plans for a military operation in Syria during talks in Kazakhstan on Wednesday, according to TASS news agency.
TASS told Moscow Syrian envoy Alexander Lavrentyev on Thursday that Russia tried to persuade Turkey to cancel plans for a military operation in Syria during talks in Kazakhstan.
“We tried to convince them that the problem must be solved by peaceful means, without resorting to violence because this could lead to an escalation,” Lavrentyev said, citing TASS.
