IOF bans Waqf officials from al-Aqsa Mosque for 6 months
Israeli authorities prevented a prominent religious leader from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem on Sunday.
Sheikh Najeh Bkerat, the deputy director of Muslim Endowments and Al-Aqsa Affairs, has been barred from the holy site for six months, according to local reports.
Sheikh Bkerat had previously been called for questioning and had his access to al-Aqsa restricted for six months.
Following Israel’s limitations on Palestinian access to the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan, which sparked heated Palestinian protests, tensions rose in Jerusalem last week.
