Israeli navy attacks fishing boats offshore Gaza
Israeli occupation navy on Wednesday morning attacked a Palestinian-owned fishing boat in the Gaza sea near Rafah, according to local sources.
The Palestinian sources said that the Israeli occupation navy fired at the fishing boat that was sailing six nautical miles into the sea. Massive smoke and flames were seen coming out from the boat.
Despite the signed accords between the Palestinians and the Israeli occupation, which allow fishermen to go 12 nautical miles inside the Mediterranean Sea, the Israeli navy, nevertheless, attacked Gaza fishermen almost daily and does not permit them to go further than six nautical miles in the south and only three in the north, which the fishermen reported not enough to catch fish.
A considerable number of Gazans depend on fishing for daily living in light of the tight 12-year-old siege imposed by the Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip.
