Israel resumes settlement activities after Biden leaving region :PM Shtayyeh
The government of Israel on Monday continued its settlement activities and plans the minute US President Joe Biden left the county, Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said .
Shtayyeh said at the beginning of the weekly cabinet session held in Ramallah that Israel announced plans to seize hundreds of dunums of Palestinian land in Bethlehem and Ramallah in the occupied West Bank to construct 30,000 new settlement housing units, a step he confirmed that would undermine the two-state settlement.
He called on Israel to stop all settlement activities, as demanded in United Nations resolutions, in order to keep the right of the Palestinian people to create their independent state.
Biden visited the county last week, opening his visit with Israel and Palestine, and then traveled to Saudi Arabia for a meeting with Arab leaders.
Shtayyeh highly praised the outcome of the Arab leaders’ meeting with Biden for emphasizing the importance of a just settlement for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on peace and security in the area and the world.
