Canada.. 2 dead in Vancouver shooting, police identify attacker
Two people were killed and two others were injured in the shooting near the Canadian city of Vancouver before the police could kill him, according to authorities.
The attack took place in Langley, south-east of Vancouver, at hours Monday morning local time, where the attacker is supposed to have reportedly targeted displaced individuals, but this has not been approved by the town’s authorities.
Two of the injured died later, while one woman remains in critical condition and a fourth person suffers from a leg injury.
Criminal investigator David Lee said in a press statement about the victims “at the moment we are in the process of determining the exact nature of these people and we cannot confirm that they are homeless.”
The police had sent an alert message at about 06:15 local time, citing “several shootings in downtown Langley”, and another alert was sent an hour later stating that the suspect was “no longer a threat”, calling on the residents to pay attention.
The police were able to determine the 28-year-old murderer, a citizen of the District of Columbia, but are still analyzing his motive for the operation.
According to Canadian media, the suspect was likely to have shot homeless people in the city in a planned manner.
