Date of 2022 World Cup opener Changed
Qatar World Cup 2022 kicks off on November 20 instead of 21 of the same month, after organizers decided to present the opening one day, AFP has learned from official sources Wednesday.
The opening match between Qatar and Ecuador was supposed to take place on 21 November, but it was not the first match of that day.
The sources reported that FIFA and the Qatari organizers had agreed to the amendment.
The next edition of the World Cup will be held for the first time in an Arab country, as well as in winter instead of summer.
The competition ends on December 18, 2022, in conjunction with Qatar’s National Day.
