One-third of American teens ban Facebook
YouTube and TikTok were at the forefront of the most polarized entertainment platforms for American teenagers in 2022 (except for video games), while Facebook’s number of users among this age group has declined in recent years, according to a Pew Research Center study published yesterday.
The research center noted that the proportion of Americans aged 13 to 17 who browse Facebook fell from 71% in 2015 to 32% in 2022.
TikTok is used “sometimes” by 67% of adolescents in the United States and “almost permanently” by 16%.
Although the Chinese-owned TikTok app “ByteDance” became global on mobile phones in 2017, the short videos posted on it that appear to the user based on powerful algorithms are very successful.
