Blood test detects 50 cancer types before symptoms appear
Researchers discovered a blood test capable of detecting 50 types of cancer even before symptoms appear in people over 50 years old.
The National Health Service in Britain conducted the first experiment on this examination in the world, according to the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”, today, Monday.
The National Health Service in Britain stated that the goal behind the examination is to detect 50 types of cancer before symptoms appear on the human body.
The researchers are optimistic that the test has “enormous potential” and believe it can prevent 10 percent of all cancer deaths.
Cancer in Britain alone kills about 167,000 people, an average of 467 people per day.
The examination was called the “Holy Grail”, and this practical breakthrough could save the lives of 16,000 people annually, according to what Sky News Arabia reported on the British “Daily Mail”.
More than 140,000 volunteers participated in the first trials of the screening, and hundreds of them were referred to other tests, such as colonoscopy, as a result of the new test.
It is expected that a large proportion of these patients will have cancer.
