Haaretz: Killing Abu Aqleh is symbol of Israeli violence
The Israeli newspaper, Haaretz, on Thursday commented on the assassination of journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, with the Israeli sniper shots yesterday .
Haaretz stated, “Israel did not provide any evidence that its soldiers did not shoot the journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.”
It added, “Abu Aqleh, with her death, became a symbol of the Israeli brutality and the violation of press freedom.”
Haaretz reported that dozens of journalists in the West Bank and East Jerusalem have been subjected to harm by Israeli soldiers and security personnel over the past years.
Moreover, it said, “There is hardly a journalist in East Jerusalem who has been injured by rubber bullets, hit with a stick or an Israeli stun grenade.”
Haaretz reported that many of the Israeli attacks on Palestinian journalists were carried out for no reason, and the investigations did not lead to any accusation.
