Hamas: “Al-Aqsa is a red line, Israel should not play with fire”
Member of Hamas’s political bureau, Ezzat al-Resheq, described the Aqsa Mosque as a “red line,” forewarning that any Israeli attack on the Mosque is like “playing with fire.”
“This message was conveyed to all the mediators who communicated with the Movement’s leadership, and I believe that the occupation has understood this message,” Resheq said in a press statement to the Palestinian Information Center on Saturday.
The Hamas official charged Israeli groups with being insistent on carrying out their dangers to violate the Aqsa Mosque and practice animal sacrifice rituals in its courtyards during the Passover festival.
“Extremist groups keep repeating their threats to perform these rituals during this week, from Sunday to Thursday, while the occupation government claims that it will prevent them and that it has not given them the approval to do so,” he added.
“Our people must remain on high alert and very vigilant for any attempt by settlers to do so and for the Israeli government’s deception and complicity because we and our people do not trust any Israeli words or reassurances,” he reported.
