The Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, declared Israel to be an apartheid regime, joining a growing list of organizations that have done so in response to Israel’s actions in occupied Palestine.
In a recent report to the United Nations, Harvard Law School’s World Human Rights Clinic joined the international community in acknowledging Israel’s apartheid government.
Apartheid in the Occupied West Bank: A Legal Analysis of Israel’s Actions, a 22-page joint report developed in collaboration with the Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, found that Israel’s practices in the occupied West Bank amounted to criminal activities in violation of the apartheid prohibition.
The research focuses on Israel’s legal system against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, and “finds that Israel’s activities in the occupied West Bank are in violation of the prohibition of apartheid and amount to the crime of apartheid under international law,” according to the report.
Amnesty International released a “damning” report last month urging for Israeli officials to be held accountable for committing the apartheid crime against Palestinians.
The Amnesty International investigation revealed how Israel uses oppression and dominance against Palestinians wherever it has influence over their rights.
Palestinians living in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT), as well as displaced refugees in other countries, fall under this category.
