Iran: Resistance is the only choice for Palestine’s independence
Iran Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Saturday that Palestinians have one only choice to fight the occupation forces and adopt a democratic resolution to free Jerusalem.
The Foreign Ministry added that fighting the Israeli forces is the defenseless Palestinian people’s legitimate, clear, and natural right.
Khatibzadeh described the struggle in a statement issued on Saturday as a response to the Israeli government’s ongoing violations of holy sites in the occupied Jerusalem, as well as the forces’ ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people, who are already subjected to harsh poverty.
He asserted that the Islamic Republic supports the Palestinian cause of freedom from Israeli pressure and brutality.
In response to current consequences in the occupied territories, Khatibzadeh determined the basis cause of the turmoil as “racism, crackdown, bloodshed, imprisonment as well as the extensive deprivation, daily denigration, and naked terrorism that is enforced by the apartheid Israeli regime” against Palestinians.
This comes two days after a shooting in the center of Tel Aviv that left several people slain and injured.
The accident happened when a Palestinian man, Ra’ad Fathi Hazem, entered a pub on the city’s bustling central street and started shooting.
The 28-year-old, a citizen of the occupied West Bank’s Jenin refugee camp, was killed by Israeli forces in a pre-dawn fight outside a mosque on the first Friday of Ramadan.
The operation has been hailed as a “heroic action” by several Palestinian resistance organizations and the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah.
Reiterating Iran’s fundamental position, Khatibzadeh thinks that the only way to resolve the problem surrounding Palestine is for “all of its original residents” to vote in a referendum.
Meanwhile, the official called on the international community to help in ending the occupation forces’ “savage violations and crimes” in Palestinian territory.
