N. Korea will never tolerate U.S.‘s accusations of its nuclear program
North Korea warned it would “never tolerate” complaints by the United States about its nuclear program, calling Washington “the axis of nuclear proliferation” and saying it would not allow any violation of its sovereign rights.
North Korea conducted missile tests at an unprecedented pace this year and international experts believe it is preparing for its seventh nuclear test, the first since 2017.
North Korea’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations issued a statement last night as diplomats met in New York at a month-long United Nations conference to review the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said during the meeting that North Korea was “continuing to expand its illegal nuclear program” and was “preparing to conduct its seventh nuclear test.”
North Korea stated in the statement that “the United States is at the center of the proliferation of nuclear weapons.”
The statement added that North Korea had long withdrawn from the NPT, so no one had the right to infringe on the country’s right to self-defense.
“We will never tolerate any attempt by the United States and its troops to baselessly accuse our state and infringe upon our sovereign rights and national interests,” North Korea said in its statement.
Last week, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said his country was ready to face any military clash with Washington.
