Paid features on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp under study
Meta platforms studied the introduction of “potential paid features” for the social networking platforms Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, according to the technology news website The Verge.
The company has no plans yet to require users to pay to remove ads, said John Heigman, director of advertising and business products at Meta Platforms, adding that the company is committed to growing the advertising business.
The company did not respond to a Reuters request for comment.
Hegemann also declined to comment on the paid features that the company is considering offering.
The move would put Meta Platforms on the path of companies, including Snap and Twitter, that have launched paid chips in exchange for additional features.
