Palestinians thank South Africa for hosting Palestinian conference
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Palestine’s “deep thanks to the brotherly Republic of South Africa for graciously hosting the conference of Palestine Ambassadors to Africa,” sending special appreciation to President Siryl Ramphosa for receiving Minister Riad Malki and to Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor for her gracious and important participation in the beginning ceremony of the conference.
“This invaluable expression of solidarity and support and the important bilateral cooperation it reflects touches the heart of all Palestinians, who see in their struggle for freedom an extension of the successful battle to end colonialism and racial domination in Africa generally and South Africa specifically,” it reported.
“As the Palestinian people continue their struggle against settler colonial occupation, it is elevated by the principled commitment of South Africa and other African states that continue to exercise active solidarity with Palestine at the United Nations and all other international fora.”
It said, “Palestine will continue to work closely with South Africa and other friends in the continent to advance our shared values and interests and to strengthen our relations at all levels.
The ministry concluded, “The Palestinian people will continue to draw inspiration and hope from the lived experiences and successes of the proud peoples of South Africa and the rest of Africa.”
