Mikhail Podolyak, the head of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office and a member of the Ukrainian negotiation team aiming to reach an agreement with Russia on a ceasefire, compared Russia’s activities to those of the Hamas Palestinian group.
“Russia is acting like Hamas, only it’s several times larger and more dangerous,” Podolyak told Israel Hayom on Sunday morning. “Israel, more than anyone else, needs to understand this.”
President Zelenskyy had been ordered by Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to submit to Russia’s demands, according to Podolyak. “This is skewed data,” says the narrator. The initial Russian package’s ultimatums were fundamentally inappropriate because they were based on a mistaken picture of Ukraine, its leadership, the Ukrainian army, and other factors.
Russia had hoped for a rapid operation that would yield the required result in less than a day, if not two.”
He continued, “After 17 days of fighting, it appears to me that Russia has a lot better understanding of where it has ended up and how it will emerge from this conflict. As a result, the Russian demand package is taking on a more suitable tone. Given the manner Ukraine is fighting, Bennett’s government did not encourage us to “accept the Russian proposal.””
“There is something that needs to be recognized, and I believe your prime minister is fully aware of this: public opinion in Ukraine is extremely powerful. We live in a free country where society shapes government policy. We are not an authoritarian state in which the government makes a decision and the rest of society follows suit. No one will simply say, “Let’s meet the demands of the Russian Federation,” because possible mediators are aware of Zelenskyy’s forceful and decisive stance. According to Podolyak.
Podolyak also mentioned Zelenskyy’s planned speech to the Knesset, stating that it will include remarks regarding Ukraine’s request for assistance. “It could be in the form of military, financial, or technological assistance.”
After all, Russia does not sell anything on the world market: no technology, no new items, and nothing that contributes to human civilization’s advancement. Russia sells territorial claims, expansion, conflicts, and arms trafficking to terrorist groups like Hamas and its ilk. Russia promotes the abolition of civilization.”
“Zelenskyy wants to make it obvious that Ukraine is prepared to deal with any situation that arises.
