Agencies-Gaza post
Samsung to raise chip manufacturing prices
South Korean electronics giant Samsung Electronics talks with its customers to raise the prices of its electronic chip products by 20% this year, joining a move involving the semiconductor industry in general to cover the gain in the prices of raw materials and transportation.
According to Bloomberg News Agency, prices of chips set out in contracts between Samsung and its customers could rise by 15 to 20% depending on their complexity, adding that prices of chips created on the basis of the old contract would increase even more.
At the same time, new prices will use during the second half of this year, with Samsung reaching agreements with a number of customers and dealing with a number of others on new prices.
Bloomberg noted that Samsung’s recent decision marked a shift from Samsung’s relatively stable price policy in the past year, which has seen chip prices rise especially as a result of the global supply shortage crisis. Samsung currently meets several huge threats such as the war in Ukraine, China’s lockdown measures, high-interest rates, and inflation rates.
