YouTube removes the inquiry commission video of the congressional break-in
The YouTube platform withdrew a video posted by the Committee of Inquiry on the Storming of the Congressional Building (Capitol) because it included clips in which Donald Trump speaks without evidence of fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
This parliamentary committee has been investigating for almost a year the riots that erupted on January 6, 2021, when supporters of former President Biden swept into Congress on the day Democrat Joe Biden won.
Parliamentarians aim to demonstrate that Donald Trump’s rejection of the results is part of a well-thought-out strategy to retain power.
They posted on YouTube a number of video recordings of their sessions, the day in question, and clips of reports and interviews.
The roll withdrawn by the Google-owned platform is an interview in which the Republican billionaire emphasized that votes were in favor of him given to Joe Biden without any remark or explanation in the recording to indicate that this is a lie and no evidence to support this accusation.
Avi Choi, a spokeswoman for the AFP-contacted service, said, “Our system of election integrity prohibits content with false assurances that fraud, errors, or problems have changed the outcome of the 2020 US presidential election unless it is placed in an appropriate context.”
“We apply our rules to everyone equally, and we have removed the video carried by the January 6 Committee channel,” which investigates the storming of Congress.
Even before the election, Trump began talking about the possibility of fraud.
Since his defeat, he has not ceased to defend his theory that the presidential election was “stolen” from him.
The January 6 committee of seven Democrats and two Republicans heard about 1,000 witnesses, including two of the former president’s sons, highlighting Donald Trump’s post-election actions.
The Committee made no comment on the video, in response to a request from AFP.
