Jerusalem Greek Orthodox Patriarchate: We support all efforts to realize justice for Shireen Abu Akleh
Archbishop Aristarchos of Constantina, General Secretary of the Patriarchate of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem on Friday asserted that it will support all efforts to realize justice for journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who was shot and killed on May 11 in Jenin by Israeli soldiers.
He said during a memorial service for Abu Akleh held yesterday at the Roman Catholic Church in Bethlehem.
During the service, Archbishop Aristarchos provided a speech on behalf of Patriarch Theophilos III, Patriarch of Jerusalem, glorifying Abu Akleh for her devotion to the rights of her Nation and to her profession, criticizing targeting her while she was performing her duty, and presenting condolences to her family.
Patriarch Theophilos III had presented an immediate exceptional blessing to bury Abu Akleh at the Orthodox cemetery. He also experienced the press conference held at Saint Joseph Hospital regarding the police raid against participants in her funeral on May 13.
