The Palestinian Ministry of Endowments in Gaza announced the ongoing Umrah season on Monday, noting that one working day has been set aside each week for pilgrim travel.
The ministry said in a statement that this followed an agreement with Egypt to change the conditions of life at the Rafah land crossing in the southern Gaza Strip during the reception of groups of pilgrims in a way that does not negatively impact registered travelers with needs such as patients, students, and residence permits.
According to the ministry, the decision to halt Umrah pilgrimages was based on an estimated response time to resolve specific concerns.
Only 596 pilgrims are expected to arrive on Tuesday, according to local sources.
