IOF orders stop the building of three dwellings in Masafer Yatta
Israeli forces on Tuesday ordered a ban on the building of three dwellings in Masafer Yatta in the southern Hebron hills, according to local sources.
Fuad al-Amour said Israeli forces and officers of the so-called Civil Administration turned their way into At Tuwani, one of the 19 villages making up Masafer Yatta, and gave three boarders notices, ordering them to halt the building of their homes, each of which covers an area of 80 square meters.
Lately, Israel’s top court offered the troops the green light to forcibly displace some 1,300 Palestinians living in twelve towns or hamlets making up the Masafer Yatta area, which depends heavily on animal husbandry as the main source of livelihood, marking one of the largest expulsions carried out by the State of Israel in current decades.
Located in Area C of the West Bank, under complete Israeli administrative and military control, the place has been subjected to repeated Israeli breaches by settlers and soldiers targeting their main source of living – livestock.
It has been appointed as a closed Israeli military zone for training since the 1980s and is accordingly referred to as Firing Zone 918.
Israeli violations against the area include the destruction of animal barns, homes, and residential buildings. Issuance of structure access by Israel to local Palestinians in the location is non-existent.
