Mariupol ’90 percent’ of the besieged city is destroyed: mayor
The Ukrainian port city of Mariupol was “90 percent” devastated after being besieged by the Russian military for weeks, according to Mayor Vadym Boychenko.

“The bad news is that 90% of the city is damaged, and 40% of it is irrecoverable,” Boychenko said at a press conference.

Some 130,000 people are still trapped in the city, which is still being bombarded by Russian missiles. Before the conflict, the city on the shore of the Sea of Azov had a population of about half a million people, according to him.
