Health: severity of new COVID19 cases wave more serious than last one
The severity of symptoms for new cases with the new wave of COVID19 is more serious than the symptoms from past ones, on Monday the Ministry of Health said.
Ministry spokesman Kamal al-Shakhra said that there has been an increase in the number of new cases during the past period due to the rise in the number of arrivals from outside the country due to holidays and vacations.
He said that there is a relative rising in numbers as the infection rate ranges from 18% to 38% in some governorates, which is a very high rate.
Shakhra clarified that the Minister of Health, Mai Alkaila, reported a circular in government departments, hospitals and directorates on the necessity of wearing masks and adhering to health protocols.
“We urge people not to be in overcrowded places, to wear a mask, especially in closed areas, and to take the vaccinations and the booster dose that help reduce the risk of infection and the symptoms that the patient suffers from,” he added, asserting that the infected people should home quarantine and those who were in contact with an infected person to stay at least three days at house to avoid spreading the disease.
Palestine on Sunday recorded 2637 new cases of COVID-19 and two deaths in one week, warning of a new sixth wave of the pandemic, which subsided to a massive extent in the last few months.
