Twitter to work with tweets editing tool: Musk
Twitter said late Tuesday that it has been working for the past year on a feature that will allow users to edit their tweets.
Users of Twitter Blue, the platform’s paid membership service, will be able to test the much-desired feature “in the coming months,” according to a post from Twitter.
The news follows Twitter’s announcement that billionaire Elon Musk will join its board of directors.
Musk asked his followers to vote in a poll on whether the platform should enable an edit function on Monday evening, just hours before Twitter announced Musk’s appointment to the board.
Musk’s statement led Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal to expand on the poll, saying, “The results of this poll will have far-reaching implications, please vote with care.”
Musk created a separate poll on March 25 asking followers whether they believed Twitter upheld free-speech principles, and Agrawal’s quote-tweet appeared to be a reference to Musk’s earlier tweet on March 25, when Musk created a separate poll asking followers whether they believed Twitter upheld free-speech principles. Below that poll, Musk had used the same advisory language.
“No, we didn’t receive the idea from a poll,” Twitter stated on Tuesday as it acknowledged the edit tool was under development.
“Ps: we weren’t joking,” Twitter said, referring to an April Fools’ Day message in which the firm claimed to be working on the feature.
