Russia declared it would “dramatically” lessen attacks on crucial northern cities in its conflict against Ukraine, but its missiles hit northern cities on Wednesday, a day after the declaration.
Ukrainian and Western authorities remained suspicious of any relaxation of the offensive.
Ukrainian soldiers shot down rockets near Kyiv, while a regional official stated the northern city of Chernihiv was shelled on a frequent basis overnight.
“The enemy displayed the ‘decreased activity’ in the Chernihiv region by conducting out strikes on Nizhyn, including airstrikes, and they hit Chernihiv all night long,” regional governor Viacheslav Chaus remarked on the Telegram messaging app.
Libraries and retail centers, he added, have been harmed.
