Israel demolishes Palestinian-owned home in Jerusalem
The Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem on Wednesday demolished a Palestinian-owned house in the Sur Baher area, southeast of occupied East Jerusalem, according to local sources.
Sources said that a police force barged into the neighborhood and cordoned off a 50-square-meter house back to Baha al-Din Rabayaa, before a bulldozer demolished it, decreasing it to rubble and displacing Baha’s family, which comprises four members.
The building was destroyed purportedly for lacking the rarely-granted construction license.
Using the pretext of illegal building, Israel destroys houses on a regular basis to determine the Palestinian increase in occupied Jerusalem.
While the municipality and government construct tens of thousands of housing units in illegal colonial settlements in East Jerusalem for Jews with the goal to offset the demographic balance in favor of the Jewish settlers in the occupied city.
